Escort ad websites and online adult classified listings are the perpetual wet dream for scammers. Why? It’s rather simple. The formula looks something like this: Digital landscape + Unregulated industry that exists in a legal grey area + Horny men looking to “take a load off” = $$$$$$. Boom, EASY PAYDAY.
Naturally, as a client you want to do everything you can to protect yourself from these schemes. That’s 100% understandable… and you should. However, there is one MAJOR misguided misconception about how to do that.
The notion that “verification pics” and FaceTime calls are effective combatants of fraud. In this day and age, in the year 2025, that is patently FALSE. It’s true that in prior years some escort advertising sites had disclaimers about avoiding fake ads advised asking for personalized photos to thwart scammers and fake ads.
In this blog post we will explore why that is no longer sound advice… And why you’ll be running into more and more professional escorts who refuse to provide video calls or personalized ‘verification pics’.
5 Reasons Why An Escort Won’t ‘Verify’ With FaceTime Calls Or Personalize

Let’s explore a handful of the most likely reasons why an escort won’t send personalized photos or do video calls to “prove” to their legitimacy toclients that th
1. It’s Not An Effective Way To Verify Identity
Look, I understand having the desire to double check that an escort you want to book is real. That the photos match the person that you are paying to spend time with. It’s a completely valid concern to have. Especially if you are sending a deposit payment to them.
FaceTime calls are not the end all be all they once were. Personalized pictures holding up x amount of fingers or a handwritten sign don’t prove an escort’s identity. Let’s say that you do get on a call with a person who matches the photos, there’s no guarantee that’s who will show up. This is particularly true when going through an escort agency.
Video calls can be manipulated using basic, easily accessible technology like screen sharing software of pre-recorded calls. One of the more advanced techniques being used by scammers across every industry are AI filters. These are used to superimpose someone else’s image onto the person you’re talking to in real time.

2. It’s A Common Timewaster Tactic
Hate to break it to you guys but free video calls or custom photos is a common time waster tactic. Unfortunately many of escorts have experienced this first hand and then got burnt.
It’s basically a request for free labor. Time is money in this profession. Both literally and figuratively speaking.

The amount of disingenuous perverts who deploy this tactic to get free content is astounding. These people typically fall into three time waster categories; photo collectors, sextortionists or scammers.
Photo collectors are the most harmless of the three. Annoying, but the least sinister. These are just guys who are horny and looking for free content to beat off too. ‘Sextortionists’, on the other hand, are a much more diabolical bunch. These assholes are the scum of the web and the lowest form of time waster.
Although it should be noted that newer, less established escorts/NSFW content creators are always the targets. There’s not much extortion that can be done to people like me. People who are out to their families and post x-rated photos on the Internet that include our faces.
3. They Are Already Verified As Established & Legitimate Escorts
Many established professional escorts are already verified and heavily reviewed on other platforms. Personally, I’ve gone through the verification process for about 8-10 different escort advertising platforms in my career.
The verification process typically consists of two portions; age verification and identity verification. We must submit a valid government identification card to prove that we are over 21 years old. This measure is taken to ensure that we are 1. The same person as the one pictured on the I.D. card and 2. The same person in the photos that we post on our ads.
To become a ‘verified poster’ on most of these sites require copies of unedited photos of ourselves holding handwritten signs. The signs are always a combination of assigned codes, phrases, today’s date, our email, working name, etc. Some websites even go as far as requiring us to take a photo holding a current dated newspaper. This is just one of many measures taken to verify escort’s legitimacy.
The process can take weeks, sometimes even months to get approved to become a verified poster on escort advertising websites.

Now, on to the moral of the story. Any ACTUAL reputable, legitimate professional escorts have already gone through the verification process on countless other ad platforms. They’ve paid their dues… literally and figuratively (as some sites charge a fee to get verified). These escorts have jumped through all the hoops 10x over.
I can’t stress enough how downright annoying these FaceTime requests can be. Just don’t. That’s my advice. Better yet, offer to pay for a video call session if you are dead set on the idea.
4. Escorts Are Targeted For ‘Verification Pics’ Scam
I have actually written about this scam at length in a couple other Wits and Tits posts. In this post I detailed such an incident with screenshots. It was a case where the scammer posed as a potential client to obtain these ‘verification pics’ from me. The idea behind it is to use these personalized “unique” photos/screen recorded video calls to appear legit to future victims. Then, try to scam people out of a deposit, bank information, account details, etc.
What people are they targeting with these fake escort ads? DING DING DING! Sex work clients. That’s you guys. Once they have such reassuring “proof” then they go steal the escort’s ad photos to post fraudulent ads as bait. A real life, true catfish situation. Except, unlike most of the stories featured on MTV’s show ‘Catfish’, this scheme is 100% for profit.
As you can imagine, no reputable companion wants their image and sometimes even their identity used to perpetrate such scams. It causes confusion, misdirected anger and potential irreparable harm their reputation.

For me personally, this is the main reason that I have a strict ‘no FaceTime’ policy. It’s why I won’t send personalized photos holding up x-amount of fingers or writing a name on my hand.
5. Not ‘Photo Ready’ 24/7
The fifth and final reason why an escort won’t do a FaceTime call is because they aren’t always photo-ready. It’s true, fellas. We don’t live our lives looking photo or video worthy 100% of the time.
Please realize that our ad photos are specifically posed and curated to give off an effortless vibe. It’s not at all uncommon for companions to pay hundreds, some times thousands, for professional photography. We don’t look like that all the time.

Even for escorts like myself who don’t pay for professional photo shoots, it’s still an issue. I spend at least a half hour, often longer, getting ready for each date. If I offered FaceTime calls to every potential client who requested one that would take up a lot of time.
Due to the nature of the FaceTime call occuring before the booking is confirmed it’s imperative to look my best. Correct? Because at this point the client isn’t yet sold on the session, so to speak. That means that I need to look as good as when I turn up to the session to make an accurate, fair impression. As I have just mentioned, it takes 30 minutes to 1 hours of preparation.
To put things into perspective, consider this scenario. It’s 3pm on a Tuesday and I have spent the past several hours doing yard work. Next, I have errands to run until 6pm. Then I plan on cooking a decent dinner for my partner and their visiting family members. I receive an inquiry from a potential client who says he’s interested in booking but not before FaceTiming. When exactly do you think I have an extra hour at the drop of a dime to get ready for this call?
Let’s say that I do take a shower, do my hair, makeup and set up a spot. Then, he flakes on me. Or worse, we do the call and then he decides not to follow through with booking. Now imagine this scenario happening several times a week if I complied with every FaceTime request.
Starting to get the picture?
Conclusion
So there you have it! 5 perfectly valid reasons why an escort won’t agree to do a FaceTime call. Hopefully this read helped you, the potential client, gain clarity on some of our decision making. If you still aren’t convinced that escorts who don’t FaceTime are all scams, here’s some things to look for:
- Do they have genuine reviews and a presence on a reputable board?
- Are they verified posters on legitimate escort advertising platforms?
- Do they have an active social media presence? Do they interact with REAL client accounts who claim to have met before?
- Do they have their own professional escort website and booking form?
If you are still dead set on having a FaceTime call then offer to pay for it. Most professional companions have a virtual menu. Ask to book the shortest video call option available. Problem solved!
